How to hide the annoying screen notch on the Huawei P20 Lite

For those of you who do not like the notch in the center, now you can hide it

Following the trend Apple iPhone X set last year, nearly every smartphone manufacturer is now designing their screen with a notch. For those of you who are not familiar with the notch, it is a small covered area of the screen on the top.

The notch may be trending amongst a lot of people, but a fair amount of people find it annoying and unnecessary. The biggest problem with the notch is that it covers the screen in the center and the left and right areas of the notch display content on the smartphone screen.

For some this notch can come in the way and produce unsatisfactory viewing experience especially if you like watching videos frequently on your mobile screen.

The new Huawei P20 Lite which was recently made available in Pakistan for PKR 36,000 also has a notch in the center. Thankfully, Huawei has released an update that allows you to disable it with a tap.

To disable the notch, first, make sure you have the latest updated installed on your P20 Lite. Once you have installed the latest update, you’ll be introduced to the new changes among which you will also find a tutorial to disable the notch.

Once updated, you can go to your P20 Lite settings screen and find a new option labeled ‘Notch’. Tap on this and you’ll be presented with two options. Simply tap on the hide notch option and the notch will be gone.

To put it exactly, the notch doesn’t really disappear, only the right and left sides of the notch are filled with black color and this screen area is shut off completely from displaying content on the phone. The screen readjusts itself to give you a fuller experience.
