Brief Overview

If you have educated yourself on the 10700K, then there’s not much you are missing here. In terms of specs, both of these are identical for the most part. The 10700 has eight cores and sixteen threads. The TDP is a bit lower as it is rated at 65W. In terms of frequencies, the base clock is 2.9GHz and the boost clock is rated at 4.8GHz. This is one of the few bigger differences between the two.

Other than that, it is the same processor we know and love for gaming and production. Since it has a lower power draw, it’s slightly easier to cool. And since you’re not overclocking, you can easily get away with a cheaper motherboard. You don’t necessarily need a Z490 motherboard for this one, though it will allow you to use faster memory.

Apart from that, nothing much has changed here. Gaming performance is near identical, but production workloads are a different story. Because of the lower power limit, the 10700K can hit higher frequencies for a longer period. This does shave off some rendering time, but the difference might not be enough for most people.
