Motorola has always been my favorite brand for many reasons, most of them revolve around their superb UI which is basically the vanilla android experience glittered with Moto gestures and features to enhance the overall experience unlike the bloatware Samsung throws at you. Moto G6 Plus is no exception, it is aiming to achieve as much as it can with elegance, beauty and pure power show. Let’s tear it all apart to see where Motorola cut costs and where it went all out and to see whether or not should you spend the extra bucks for the Plus.

Motorola Moto G6 Plus Details

Introduction:

Living is an experience not everyone can enjoy. But as long as we are here, we have to make the most of it. We all know what it feels to own a lagging garbage phone that cost far more than what its worth, and the experience of both using the phone and the overall annoyance that it adds to your character every time you use it is pathetic. That is where Motorola comes in with their premium products at affordable rates. With Moto G6 Plus, they are not set out to achieve something revolutionary, but that is exactly why it is the symbol of all that is good.

Display and Design:

Corning gorilla glass 3 is found both at the back and the front, and the rounded body of the Moto G6 comes with a camera bump but no notch, thankfully? That is one trend I would honestly wish to see dead. The camera with its lenses and flash placed in such a way to look like the confused emoticon. The fingerprint sensor is located on the front and is blazing fast. On the 5.9 inch display powered with a 1080 x 2160 resolution at 409 pixel density, the 18:9 IPS LCD display is made to do wonders. You will find the speaker next to the front facing camera which although is the only speaker you will find on the G6 Plus, it still performs quite well. Thankfully, there is a USB-C and a headphone jack found at the bottom and a dual sim tray that also has space for an SD card as well.

Performance:

This is where Moto G6 Plus marches over the G6 with its superior chipset Snapdragon 630 and Adreno 508. That is not all, the spiral of improvements goes on to the huge increase in ram as well, up to 6 gigs! That is all you need in 2018, a smart phone without a notch, a display that you can shrink using Moto and a ram that can take on any task you throw at it. Good job Moto! The Antutu score is around 78K which is decent but nothing too good because I mean come on, at this price range, you expect it to cross at least 100K. Oh well.

Camera:

Finally, 4K video recording! The front facing camera on Moto G6 Plus comes at around 8 MP with an aperture of 2.2 which is not really that good for selfies but still good enough if you are not a fanatic? And the rear dual camera comes at 12 MP with f/1.7 allowing more light to be captured and the other camera at 5 MP with dual LED tone flash so you are in for sensational pictures and won’t need much skills to capture the beauty. Motorola did a good job in this department but it’s not a huge improvement over the G6 so yeah.

Battery and Connectivity

Here we find a small improvement over the G6 and find the battery to power this Moto G6 with about 3200 mAh, and with USB-C and quick charging Moto comes with, you will find yourself device charged in no time. Still, The G6 Play had a bigger battery but the chipset was also very old so I guess a fair trade? Moto G6 Plus SD 630 chipset makes it more efficient and a better device over all in all the G’s out there.

You will find G6 to support LTE, HSPA, GSM and no infrared port but NFC is alive and well. Hybrid sim slot and splash resistant, Moto G6 Plus is all that it younger brother was and more.

Verdict:

I believe that while it is not a huge upgrade over the G6, on its own, it is still a darn good phone that any fan of Moto will simply for without any questions asked. No revolution to be found here, but a good device nonetheless, packs all the essentials, lags a little, but for the common man and an everyday user, it is quite the beast but not really worth the price tag.

Final Verdict

  • No Notch (18:9 with FHD+ display
  • Good battery
  • Good Processor (SD 630)
  • USB-C and fast charging
  • Good Battery (3200mAH)
  • Average front camera
  • Hybrid sim slot
