The Evolve X is the elder sibling of the Blackberry Evolve. Other than the higher price tag, the Blackberry Evolve X has a better chipset, enhanced build quality, and a slightly improved camera than the Evolve X. If you are looking for a robust and powerful higher midrange smartphone that has the perks of owning a Blackberry, then Evolve X is a formidable choice for you.
The Blackberry Evolve X has a block form factor with thin bezels and a 7000-series aluminum frame. The high-quality aluminum frame ensures that the smartphone does not bend or deform easily and improves the durability of the smartphone significantly. The overall build quality of the Blackberry Evolve X is solid and it should be able to resist a few drops here and there without anything more than scratches. The fingerprint scanner on the smartphone is conveniently located on the back of the smartphone, just below the dual camera setup.
As for the display, the Blackberry Evolve X features the same 5.99-inch IPS display with a FHD resolution as the Evolve. The sharpness of the display is quite high and the colors are lively as well. The overall contrast and brightness of the display is excellent too so there is not much to complain about with the display on the Blackberry Evolve X.
The midrange Blackberry Evolve X features the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with an octa-core processor, an Adreno 512 GPU, and 6 GB of RAM. The efficient chipset is able to handle intensive tasks smoothly without any signs of lag which means the Blackberry Evolve X should be able to satisfy casual gamers and power users.
As with the Blackberry Evolve, the Evolve X features an excellent camera setup with a dual 12 MP + 13 MP rear camera which has auto-focus and dual-tone dual LED. The photographs from the rear camera come out to be quite decent with good contrast and adequate sharpness but the dynamic range and color reproduction is not as impressive as other mid-range smartphones. The selfie camera boosts a 16 MP resolution which makes it suitable for taking group selfies. Overall, the camera on the Evolve X performs decently but it is not the best mid-range camera around.
The battery is perhaps the most impressive feature of the Blackberry Evolve X since the smartphone comes with an enormous 4000 mAh battery. The smartphone can easily give you up to 2 days of moderate use which will include web browsing and video playback. The cherry on top is the fast charging which can take the Evolve X to a full charge from scratch in just about 2 hours.
In terms of connectivity, the Evolve X comes with Bluetooth 5.0, FM Radio, USB 2.0 Type-C connectivity, and PowerDelivery 2.0 support.
