Background

Initially introduced in the United Kingdom and Canada in the 1950s, Bounty is a coconut-filled chocolate bar belonging to the Mars family. This chocolate came into being due to the amalgamation of two different concepts. These were mounds bar introduced by Peter Paul and mars’ almond joy.

Bounty was earlier distributed by Mars but its distribution by Mars has been discontinued in the United States. With the tagline taste of paradise, the countries that manufacture the chocolate include the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Portugal.

The chocolate doesn’t come with a lot of variations and usually has a standard packaging and flavor but it is widely popular as well as available in Pakistan.

Halal aspect

Like many other products in the country, a debate related to Bounty being halal or not also came to the surface. However, all the concerns were put to rest and it was declared to be 100% halal. Back in 2007, there were rumors of it having animal rennet. However, keeping the concerns in mind, the ingredients were thus changed according to the needs of the consumers. It was then halal-certified by HFA. It was also declared to be suitable for consumption by vegetarians according to the standards of the vegetarian society.
