The blood pressure machine used to measure blood pressure is known as a blood pressure monitor. It consists of two parts; an inflatable cuff and a mercury manometer. The cuff is wrapped around the arm that collapses and releases the artery to check the blood pressure, and the manometer measures the cuff's pressure. This monitor measures both systolic and diastolic pressures. Other names for blood pressure monitors are sphygmomanometer, bp apparatus, and BP Machine.

In Pakistan, many people have blood pressure issues due to which they usually keep blood pressure monitors in their homes as a precautionary measure to save them from a bad situation. The manual sphygmomanometer is composed of a stethoscope, a cuff, a pump, and a gauge. To measure the blood pressure, tightly wrap the cuff around your arm above your elbow. Then place the disk of the stethoscope under the cuff and earpieces in your ears. Then squeeze the pump until the gauge reads above your normal systolic blood pressure and stop squeezing. when you hear the first heartbeat, note the reading as it is your systolic blood pressure. Similarly, take the reading when the beating sound stops. it is diastolic blood pressure.
