Next-gen gaming is right around the corner. For Microsoft and Sony, the race has already started. We are also seeing Nvidia and AMD compete in the GPU department to see who comes out on top. Rest assured, it is a great time to be a gamer. You have a lot of different options on how you want to play games in 2020.
With that said, it’s easy to predict that the Playstation 5 will be incredibly successful. Sony has a large market in Pakistan as well, and Xbox players are smaller in numbers over here. Depending on the PS5 price in Pakistan, we can make an educated guess that it is going to be successful.
The PS5 is a major step forward when it comes to console gaming. This is one of the bigger generational jumps we’ve seen in a while. So, let us break down what makes this powerhouse such a great console for next-gen gaming.

PS5 Price In Pakistan

The latest price available online is Rs. 159,000. This time around, Sony has gone with an unconventional approach for the release of the PS5. Instead of releasing just one variant of the PS5, we now have two. We have a new digital edition as well as the standard disc drive edition. We can see why Sony released a digital edition, as people are moving away from physical discs gradually.

Design: Big, Bold, and Beautiful

Sony’s approach to the PS5 design is vastly different compared to Microsoft’s. While the new Xbox Series X is going for a minimalistic design language, the PS5 goes all out in this regard. It looks futuristic from any angle. The console is going to stand out in your living room, and just might be the center of attention.

In terms of size, the PS5 is massive in every dimension. When placed vertically, it’s quite a bit taller than the Xbox Series X. Sony includes a stand in the box, so that you can place the PS5 vertically or horizontally. The faceplates can be popped off with ease. Speaking of which, the white faceplates along with the glossy back interior gives an alluring two-tone look.

We can talk about design all day. Another cool Easter egg is that Sony printed the triangle, cross, circle, and square buttons on the surface of the console. This is visible if you take a macro lens to it. Overall, considering the PS5 price in Pakistan, this console looks the part and feels premium.
Specs: Powerful On Paper And In Reality
For most console players, specs mean little to nothing. That’s not saying that specs don’t matter, but generally, console players aren’t the type to argue over RAM and processors. That conversation becomes even more redundant if we consider that both the Xbox Series X and PS5 are similar in specs this time around.

The PS5 is powered by an AMD eight-core Zen 2 processor which runs at 3.5GHz (with variable frequency). We also have an AMD RDNA 2 GPU with 36 compute units at 2.23GHz (variable frequency). It has 10.28 teraflops of GPU power, and 16 gigs of GDDR6 RAM. As for storage, the PS5 has an all-new 825GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. More on that later.

Again, while most people won’t bat an eye towards the processor and GPU, they are quite powerful. It’s refreshing to see that AMD is leading the charge when it comes to next-gen performance and gaming.

Next-Gen SSD: Load Times? What’s that?

There has been a lot of talk and hype around the whole next-gen SSD ordeal. To put it simply, the PS5 uses NVMe PCIe Gen4 storage for those faster load times. All marketing gimmicks aside, the results do speak for themselves. What do we mean by that? Well here’s what load times look like on the PS5:

In the original Marvel’s Spider-Man game on the PS4, load times would range around 15-20 seconds or even higher on the PS4. We’re talking about jumping from the main menu into the actual game. On the PS5, that only takes about two seconds. Booting the game from the PS5 home menu takes eight seconds. So after booting up the PS5, you’ll be playing the game in around 15 seconds.

We would say that is quite impressive. All of this holds true in Demon’s Souls Remake as well. Launching Demon’s Souls from the main menu takes 20 seconds, and transition to the game’s main menu takes less than 15 seconds. Within another six seconds, you are playing the game. Considering how long Bloodborne took to load on the PS4, this is impressive stuff. For the PS5 price in Pakistan, we can’t complain about the SSD.

Performance: 4K Finally Becomes A Reality

Beyond loading times, extra graphical fidelity on the PS5 is also helped by better performance. Sony claims that most games will run at 4K 60fps, and some select titles can go all the way up to 4K 120fps. Of course, you can also stick with 1080p if you wish to do so. Many games will have two modes: performance and cinematic.

The names might vary from game to game, but you get the idea. Performance mode provides better framerates, well the cinematic mode (or whatever you want to call it) will provide raytracing and other visual improvements, at the cost of framerate. But those are all just claims, so how well do they hold up?

Well Spiderman: Miles Morales runs at 60fps in 4K when using performance mode. On the PS4, the original Spiderman game runs with less graphical fidelity and at 30fps. As for Demon’s Soul Remake, the cinematic mode runs at true native 4K 30fps and gives us a bit better visual fidelity. In performance mode, the game renders at 1440p and upscales it to 4K via temporal injection.

Surprisingly, the Demon’s Souls Remake looks great even when it is upscaled. It also runs buttery smooth on the PS5. Even if we consider the hefty PS5 price in Pakistan, performance manages to impress us.

Backward Compatibility

The Playstation 5 is going to be backward compatible with more than 4,000 PS4 games. This is quite a relief, as PS4 games in Pakistan are quite popular. You can pop in the discs and play the games on your PS5. If you have the games digitally, they will work when you sign in the PS5.

Some games like God Of War, Ghost Of Tsushima, and Monster Hunter: World all run at 60fps versus 30fps on the PS4. Expect more game to receive patches so that they are playable at 60fps.

DualSense Controller

The DualShock 4 controller has been upgraded once and for all on the PS5. This time around, Sony calls it the DualSense controller. Overall, it is aesthetically pleasing and looks sleek. Build quality feels sturdier, and the new ergonomic design feels great in the hand. Battery life is also much better compared to the DualShock 4.

However, the main features here are haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. There is nothing quite like this out there. It is the combination of both the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback that makes the DualSense a unique controller.

The Haptic feedback evokes different frequencies and vibrations depending on the actions in-game. This is very hard to explain in text, but once you feel the difference it is hard to go back. As for the adaptive triggers, they also work in the same fashion. However, they provide feedback and feel harder or softer depending on what weapon you use in the game.

It’s a tough pill to swallow that this isn’t all just marketing, but it is quite true. The DualSense controller is the only controller that has this actual next-gen feature.

Verdict

Overall, the PS5 is going to be a very successful console in Pakistan. We can easily say that this is going to be the best gaming console in Pakistan, as well. However, let’s see how the Xbox Series X performs as well. Regardless of the PS5 price in Pakistan, many people are going to buy it, and get a taste of what the next generation of gaming is bringing to us.

The controller, performance, design, and of course, the new SSD all come together to bring an experience unlike any other we’ve seen before in consoles. If you’re thinking that the PS5 price in Pakistan is expensive, we assure you it’s well worth the money for a high-end gaming console. Especially if you are a PlayStation fan.
