Nokia 6.1 is a rebooted version of the Nokia 6 geared up to fight in the mid-tiered arena of smartphones. Although it doesn't live up to the legacy of Nokia 6, it is still a good phone powered by an authentic Android experience.

The Nokia 6.1 is a unibody phone that is encased inside a 6000-series aluminum material with rounded corners and colored highlights around the corners and edges of the phone. This is an attractive addition to the design which helps the phone stand out from the rest of the competition. 

The metal body feels a little on the heavier side otherwise the phone feels very solid when you hold it in your hands. 

The front face of the phone relies on a super glossy 5.5 inches screen with a thick black chin below it. The screen itself is quite bright and sharp and will impress most people who are on the lookout for an affordable phone with good screens. It has full HD resolution which is a great upgrade for a phone that is meagerly priced.

It may come as a bit disappointing that the Nokia 6.1 has a solo camera on its rear in a time when even the entry-level phones have a dual setup instead of solo. But thankfully, the performance of the camera makes up for this. 

The Carl Zeiss lens powered by Android's stock camera application will give you enough tools to turn your photos into good-looking pieces of art. However, just like any other budget phone in the Pakistani market, expect to see average results when you try to shoot photos in low-light situations. 

The front facing camera is more than good enough and will offer you good selfies with beauty mode enabled. Again, it isn't the best camera on the market but if you know how to take good shots with proper light, you'll get something easily shareable out of it.

Nokia 6.1 battery is an impressive piece of tech. It will give you a full day before going out of juice. This is quite an impressive feat given the fact that the phone has to power 1080p resolution. With fast charging enabled, you will get the best battery performance in the market.

For performance, the Nokia 6.1 performs quite well for the most part except in occasions when you decide to exploit it with multi-tasking. Otherwise, the performance is top notch thanks to a decent processor and RAM. 

However, the Nokia 6.1 is incapable of running modern games at smooth frames. It should still get you around 25 FPS on big games which means they are playable at least. 

Stock Android on the phone means you'll get guaranteed updates when a new version of Android pops up. This is somewhat missing on other phones that rely on customized interfaces and requires the phone company to update the interface before releasing the new version of Android.

Verdict

The Nokia 6.1 is an excellent option in the mid-tiered phones. A lot of phones in the mid-tier lack something to make up for a certain feature or specification. This isn't true for Nokia 6.1. The phone bags solid performance, great looks, solid build and a great camera. It is light on extra features but at its current price, it is an excellent option nonetheless.
