Earlier this week, Samsung announced its latest midrange smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018). The smartphone, also known as the Samsung Galaxy A9s, features an attractive specifications sheet and stylish design but what really sets it apart is that it has a quad-camera setup on the back.
A couple of years ago, having a dual-camera setup on your smartphone was thought to be wild, but now two is a trend, three is an eye-catcher, but four? Perhaps one-camera-too-many by Samsung but we can never be sure unless we get our hands on the Galaxy A9 (2018).
Expected Release and Price:
The Samsung Galaxy A9s is expected to be released in October worldwide. In Pakistan, the expected release time for the smartphone is in the last week of October. You will be able to get hands on this beautiful and camera-full smartphone by the first week of November.
As for the price, the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) starts at a price of €600 for the 6 GB version. Accordingly, we can expect the smartphone to cost around 90,000 PKR in Pakistan. A hefty price tag but this comes with not a single, not dual but a quad camera setup. Are the specifications worth it? We are not quite sure, but we are sure of one thing, Samsung is looking to sell this as a premium camera phone.

Moving on to the specifications, here are the highlights of the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018):
- A FHD 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with the traditional bar form factor.
- A Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with an octa-core processor, up to 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage.
- A quad camera setup on the rear with a 24 MP primary sensor + 8 MP ultrawide sensor + 10 MP telephoto sensor + 5 MP depth sensor.
- A 24 MP HDR selfie camera.
- Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, and NFC connectivity.
- ANT+, fast charging, and fingerprint scanner on the back.
- Black, Blue, and Pink color options.
On paper, the specifications are nothing very spectacular but what really catches the eye is the quad camera setup on the smartphone. Does it justify the sky-high price tag? We will know once the smartphone is released.
