Pixel! Sounds like another one of Pixar studios animation movie? You’re wrong. Pixel is Googles flagship smartphone introduced last year. The most used ‘search engine’ entered into the market of handsets when it launched the “Google Pixel”. What’s the pitch? Make Pixel work as smooth as the search engine giant itself.
Interestingly Google Pixel was among the best phones of 2016, yet it failed to excite the masses by not having features which are a necessity when it comes to buying smartphones. However the launch of the second generation “Pixel 2” earlier this month triggered a big response from the tech bloggers worldwide with a much more transformed smartphone with faster software than ever before. Without Google, the day to day tasks we do today would be impossible to maneuver. Whether it’s Google Maps, YouTube, Gmail and Android, these itself are used by billions of users nationwide because of its capabilities. Now Imagine Google putting there 19 years of research in a Smartphone, it cannot be defined how well the Smartphone will work hands on.
What makes it the top pick this year is the camera sharper than The Galaxy Note 8. Unlike other smartphone brands, Pixel 2 doesn’t have the ‘bokeh’ affect which creates that ingenious background blur. To counter that, it uses a special depth matching image sensor to form a similar depth of field making the photos vibrant. Low light shooting is remarkable as Google increased the camera’s aperture from f2.0 to f1.8 so more light enters the camera even in dark spots. Secondly, Google added optical image stabilization OIS on the rear camera which reduces camera shakes to a minimum. Taking images of fast moving objects have never been this clear minimizing blur. Comes with a 5 inch 1080p display, with a snapdragon 835 as of the Samsung Galaxy 8 and a 4GB RAM making it run lightning smooth. Makes a solid grip in hand and wouldn’t slide down a table with its harsh glass finish. Neither does it appear to pick up fingerprints. It does give the impression that it might scratch off over time, but that’s not sure of yet.
And that’s not it. Click a photo of a book and the phone will tell you the name of the Author and see its reviews instantly. Same response if you snap a picture of a restaurant and its reviews will pop up on a small digital card on the screen. For all you music lovers, one of the interesting features it offers is the “Now Playing”. It automatically detects which song is being played in the vicinity and tells you the name of the artist and song. None of the specs present in either Apple or Samsung flagships, making it stand out of the crowd.
According to Tech Insider Google’s photo-storage service is way more streamlined and ample space provided than Apple’s iCloud! A year passed making fun of Apple for removing headphone jack in iPhone 7 and surprisingly Pixel 2 also detached the Headphone Jack and went wireless.
Well, instead of focusing on particular high end specs, Pixel 2 focused on every aspect possible in the specs area and aims to offer by far the fastest and cleanest android experience.
Additionally it’s clear it has gained quite attention from the consumers and competitors like Samsung who claimed to have the best camera so far and Apple. Let’s see if the original Pixel owners evolve their phones to Pixel 2. It’s definitely worth the money.
