Intel Core i5 10400

  -   Rs. 35,000

The Intel Core i5 is one of the most popular series of processors in Pakistan. As you can probably guess, the Core i5 10400 is no different. The success of the i5 is untenable, and many Pakistanis keep coming back to it, time and time again. Both the Core i5 10400 and Core i5 10400F are great choices. Although, there’s more to the story than the “F” in the latter one. The letter F in the 10400F indicates that it lacks any integrated graphics. This means your PC won’t have a display output without a graphics card. For most gamers, this isn’t a big deal at all. However, if you need integrated graphics for some reason, you always have the option for the regular i5 10400. Of course, there’s also a slight difference in price. Just like the 10400F, this one represents excellent value as you can save quite a bit on the motherboard as well. We expect many people are going to have either of these processors in their builds.

Intel Core i5 10400 Details

Brief Overview

There’s not much to talk about between the differences between the two processors. However, a quick breakdown won’t hurt anyone. Both of these are six-core, twelve-thread processors. The TDP is 65W, and both can boost up to 4.3GHz. The new Comet Lake architecture means you’ll need an LGA1200 compatible motherboard. Intel is using their 14nm process for Comet Lake as well.

You’ll want to pair the 10400 with either an H410 or B460 board for a great price to performance ratio. You can use a Z490 board, but that’s overkill for something that doesn’t have to overclock. For high refresh rate gaming, the Core i5 10400 is an excellent choice. Especially if you pair it with a good graphics card. The six cores and twelve threads really show their muscle at both 1080p and 1440p.

While very few people buying this processor will care about productivity benchmarks, it’s worth talking about. Considering the price, the 10400 delivers acceptable performance in Blender, Adobe Premiere, and more. Of course, if you’re a professional, you’ll want to go a different route. However, if you’re just getting started, it’s enough to get you up and running.

One of the best things about the Core i5 10400 is that you don’t need a beefy cooler. Since there is no overclocking here, the processor rarely reaches dangerous temps, even with a budget cooler. So overall, the 10400 holds decent value. Again, if you need integrated graphics for some reason, get the 10400, it’s a great processor for gaming.
